DOVE VALLEY ? Pittsburgh coach Mike Tomlin could have spent the eight months stewing over the way his team?s season ended with a stunning overtime loss in Denver last January.
Tomlin insisted Wednesday that he did not, and is not using ?revenge? as a motivating tactic with his team this week as they prepare for the season opener against the Broncos here in Denver.
?You know, that?s a different team as far as I?m concerned personally. I?ve been here now six years and only one of those seasons has ended in the manner in which I desired it to end. I carry a little bit of baggage from all those seasons, this past one no more different than the others. So from that standpoint, no,? Tomlin said on a conference call with Denver reporters.
Tomlin continued:
?We recognize that we?re different, we acknowledge that they?re different offensively, obviously, not only offensively with peyton, but defensively with coach Del Rio, who is very good at what he does,? Tomlin said. ?So we better remain focused on the challenges that are in front of us this weekend instead of looking back at something that happened months ago.?
