Old Mill junior varsity football player flown to Shock Trauma

An Old Mill junior varsity football player was flown to Maryland Shock Trauma Center by Maryland State Police helicopter Friday afternoon after an accident during warmups for the Patriots? first junior varsity game of the season in Millersville.

Old Mill athletic director Craig White said the player sustained a neck or head injury during a ?freak accident? in warmups. He and a Patriots teammate collided during special teams drills, White said.

The player, who was identified only as a freshman, was conscious and was moving his arms and legs, said White. His father accompanied him on the flight to Shock Trauma.

The JV game went on as scheduled. The No. 7 Patriots varsity season opener against Broadneck is scheduled for 7 p.m., after the JV game.
